"You can't stop the waves
but you can learn to surf!"
I'm a qualified psychologist, Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, and mindfulness teacher. I have worked for over 10 years in both NHS and privately both with long-term physical health conditions (including MS, chronic fatigue, and chronic pain) and with general mood problems (including anxiety, depression, lack of self-esteem, & relationship difficulties). I currently work both privately and part-time in a busy NHS Rheumatology service in London.
My personal philosophy is that we all have the capacity to live full and meaningful lives, even when life challenges us. Stress, anxiety, sadness and loss are part of the human experience. Whilst we can't avoid these, we can learn skills to help us to manage these difficult experiences, in such a way that we can move forward in our lives, in the ways that are important to us.
My passion for my work comes from my own personal experience of life's difficulties and I teach both from my training, professional and personal experience of these ways of living. I endeavor to practice what I preach!
What's on offer
One to One Therapy
I provide one to one therapy in a comfortable, confidential environment. Sessions tend to last 50 minutes and you will likely have some skills to practise in between sessions. I am warm and friendly and will work collaboratively with you. I will provide you with skills to best manage your thoughts and feelings. I work integratively drawing upon a number of approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness.
I am a mindfulness teacher and can provide one to one or group mindfulness sessions. In these sessions you will learn the core mindfulness practices. These will include formal meditation exercises and more everyday ways to be more present in your daily life. I will provide CDs and online audio recordings of mindfulness exercises so that you can develop your skills outside of and after the sessions.
I provide specialist supervision. I work primarily from third wave cognitive therapies, in particular ACT, mindfulness and Relational Frame Theory (RFT).
Initial consultation fee is £60
